Ladies Club Captain

I think that when most ladies first take up the sport of golf it all seems very daunting, there are so many things to remember, so many rules to learn, and then you have to hit the ball as well!
When I started playing golf the Shirland ladies were so charming and friendly, and everyone continually encouraged me, including our Pro, and now I really enjoy playing.
The ladies section meet at 9:30am on Thursdays (ready for 10am start) so if you were thinking of learning to play golf you would be made most welcome at Shirland.
Although small the ladies section has a full programme of competitive and fun golf at club level. We also field teams in the Bronze Trophy and Interclub Foursomes competitions against other clubs in the county, and have several mixed competitions throughout the year.
This year Mick, the Club Captain and I have pooled our resources and are working together to raise funds for the Stroke Association Charity. They do tireless work in supporting stroke victims and their families, fund research into new treatments and also do work in prevention and awareness campaigns.
Whilst we are enjoying ourselves on the golf course, if we can help to raise funds for this charity then everyone's life is that little bit richer.
Regards
Diane Laughton
