Ian Walley

I first became a member at Mickleover Golf Club when I was 16 years old. In 1998 at the age of 18 I won the Derbyshire Amateur Championship which was hosted by my home club. Upon turning professional at the age of 19 I accepted a job at Kedleston Park Golf Club under the expert supervision of former European Tour player and current European Seniors Tour player David J Russell. Later that year I moved on from Kedleston Park to return to my home club Mickleover where I completed my 4 years of training under the guidance of current head professional Tim Coxon.

In 2003 I was offered a position at Branston Golf & Country Club which would help further my playing career while taking on the full responsibility of junior coaching at the golf academy. During this time at Branston we introduced YMG junior coaching and I had one of the largest numbers of juniors in the country in a golf coaching programme. At one time this number grew to over 100 junior golfers, both boys and girls from the ages of 5 to 16.

In 2005 I returned again to Mickleover Golf Club. The main reason for this was so that I could operate in a more flexible environment which would help me pull together a playing schedule along with other responsibilities.

In 2007 I joined the team at Shirland Golf Club, Where I provide golf lessons for both adults and juniors and also stock the proshop.
